Notes

1 Chronicle葉書: the year-by-year record on the bamboo slips of Shuihudi tomb 11, Yunmeng, Hubei, which notes Qin's campaigns beside the events of the tomb occupant's family. It was published in 1978 under the editors' title 编年记; the Collected Qin Slips gives it the title written on the slips themselves, 葉書.
2 fifty-first yearThe fifty-first year of King Zhaoxiang of Qin, 256 BC. The subject, Qin, is not expressed; the Basic Annals of Qin record the taking of Yangcheng under the same year.
